Ultrasonic Level Meter
Application areas:
VEGASON 61 is an ultrasonic sensor for continuous level measurement of liquids or bulk solids. Typical applications are the measurement of liquids in storage vessels or open tanks. The sensor is also suitable for measuring bulk solids in small containers or open containers. The non-contact measurement method is not affected by the properties of the measured medium and can therefore be adjusted even without a medium.

Function:
Short ultrasonic pulses in the range of 18 to 70 kHz are radiated by the acoustic transducer onto the medium to be measured, reflected by the surface of the medium and received by the acoustic transducer. The pulses propagate at the speed of sound. The time from emission to reception of the signal is proportional to the level in the container.
Material:
The parts of the instrument that are in contact with the medium are made of PVDF and the process seals are made of EPDM.
Shell type:
The housings are available in single or double chamber versions made of plastic, stainless steel or aluminium. They are available with protection up to IP 68 (1 bar).
Electronic component type:
Different types of electronics are available. In addition to the 4 … 20 mA/HART two-wire electronics, a four-wire and purely digital version for Profibus PA and Foundation Fieldbus is also available.
