- Torque Measurement: AUTORK actuators utilize a professionally designed torque measurement system to ensure overload protection and reflect torque changes in the valve. This system employs a pressure sensor to measure the reaction force of
the motor worm gear thrust and converts it into an electrical signal proportional to the output torque, providing accurate torque values that are independent of changes in power supply frequency, voltage, and temperature.
- The motor and drive motor shaft are independent of the worm gear for easy and quick replacement. The worm wheel and worm are individually immersed in lubricating oil, suitable for the greatest ambient temperature differences. The low inertia, high torque motor allows it to quickly reach peak torque after startup, with almost no over-limit movement when unexcited. A precise temperature sensor within the coil is unaffected by ambient temperature, ensuring the motor operates at its optimal heat capacity
- The terminal box features a double-sealed protection design . Even when the terminal box cover is opened for field wiring, the individually sealed terminal box ensures the integrity of the electrical components within the electric actuator.
- Thrust base, models IK35 and below are equipped with an ‘A’ type bushing, a lubricated and removable thrust base, allowing the actuator to be removed without changing the valve position. For actuators IK40 and above, the thrust base and housing are integrated into a single assembly. A
simple, removable drive bushing can be machined to fit the valve stem for connection to the valve.
- Valve position control, The Hall effect pulse counting encoding system can accurately measure and control the actuator’s stroke without using switches and gears for positioning, thus improving position accuracy (an optional photoelectric absolute position encoder is available)
- The local control, switches and latch-type field/stop/remote selectors are magnetic switches without a through shaft. They are controlled by the internal magnetic reeds of the actuator, ensuring the actuator’s sealing and moisture-proof requirements
- Infrared setting, allows for full setting and diagnostics of the actuator via a sealed indicator window. This eliminates the need to open the electrical box cover and expose the internal control circuitry. The effective communication distance between the setter and the window is 0.75 meters
- In case of power failure, manual operation
allows for direct drive of the handwheel via a low-speed locking manual/automatic clutch (or an independent gear-driven handwheel on larger models) to switch the actuator on and off.
If the switch lever is in the automatic position, electric drive is active; in the manual position, manual drive is active. In an emergency, the switch lever can be pressed down to the “manual” position to prevent malfunction.
Manual operation provides a “hammering” effect during idle travel, facilitating easy valve operation.
- Intelligent communication
- Lifetime technical support:
All AUTORK electric actuators come with global technical support. AUTORK’s technical support centers provide fast and convenient technical support to users worldwide. AUTORK communicates via IrDA™ (standard infrared communication protocol). No matter where the actuator is in the world, users can contact AUTORK via an IrDA™-compatible GSM wireless phone to obtain product technical support from AUTORK’s global technical support center, including actuator configuration, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
- IK- MONITOR
is a PC application software for AUTORK electric actuators, featuring a graphical user interface that runs on Windows 2000. IK-MONITOR allows users to obtain the actuator’s setting parameters. It can also analyze, inspect, and reconfigure the actuator’s operation based on recorded information.
IK-MONITOR can run on a standard laptop running Windows 2000 or on a standard PC using AUTORK’s proprietary IrDA™ communication cable.
- Remote diagnostics
IK/IKT utilizes IrDA™ for fast, secure, non-intrusive communication and standardized data exchange. Actuator configuration settings can be analyzed and modified. Each actuator includes a built-in data logger, allowing for the interpretation and provision of recommendations based on operational data such as valve torque distribution, actuator events, and statistics.
- AUTORK electric actuators with fieldbus control
provide a seamless interface with any host system and communication protocol. The IK/IKT series electric actuators include fieldbus modules such as MODBUS, PROFIBUS, FOUNDATION, and CAM bus.
To meet customer requirements, AUTORK configures each fieldbus module via a separate PCB board, fixed in the electric actuator’s electrical box. This eliminates the need for traditional fieldbus control boxes, improving product stability and reducing user costs.
- The AUTORK master workstation
Features the proprietary Expcan IKK system, utilizing a specially developed Expcan bus. The Expcan bus can control up to 250 IK/IKT electric actuators within a 20km radius. The workstation employs the same high-definition LCD display interface as the actuators, allowing for easy monitoring of the various statuses of all actuators connected to the workstation, including limit switches, torque alarms, and other information.
The Expcan ST workstation is programmable, greatly simplifying valve management and operation. Its superior performance is particularly advantageous in hazardous areas and locations where operation is difficult.
- The Modbus
Actuator can accommodate one or two Modbus modules to provide control functions and status feedback data. The field network uses a 2-wire or 4-wire high-speed RS485 data interface, which can be doubled for redundancy. Communication is half-duplex using the Modbus RTU communication protocol. Data transmission baud rates can reach 38kHz. All functions connecting the actuator to the system are programmed via an infrared setting device.
- The Profibus module
IK/IKT actuator can be equipped with a Profibus DP interface card, integrating the actuator into a standard Profibus network, compatible with the fieldbus standard EN50170. This module also ensures Profibus-certified operability. The network can transmit control and status feedback data from all actuators to a host computer. The Profibus module has two communication ports, facilitating redundant fieldbus connections in applications with high reliability requirements, and supports data transmission baud rates up to 1.5 Mbps.
- The IK/IKT fieldbus module
Can accommodate an FF-1 module, integrating the actuator into the Foundation fieldbus network (H1). This module conforms to the IEC 61158-2 fieldbus standard and connects to the bus via two wires. Its operability is also certified.
The Foundation bus enables full-function control and data exchange between control devices and all actuators. Each actuator has the ability to connect to the scheduler, and its analog and digital input/output modules are as seamless as PID and standard conversion modules. The Foundation fieldbus network has the ability to operate independently of the main control system, functioning like an administrator. Field devices can communicate directly with each other.
- Additional input and output blocks,
Once the actuator is connected to a fieldbus network, can collect additional feedback information from other field devices, such as level switches and inductive detectors. They can also provide additional output control functions to the system to operate remote devices such as pump starters. To achieve these functions, the actuator needs to be equipped with a fieldbus remote input/output option, which provides four digital inputs for data feedback and four dry contact relay outputs for control. The availability of these functions is shown on the right.

- For a design-life
On/off type actuator, assuming the maximum seat torque occurs at the end of the stroke and averages 1/3 of the maximum seat torque during the middle of the stroke, the minimum maintenance-free life of the actuator is 30,000 on/off/open cycles.
- The life test
Standard IK/IKT is based on 10,000 on/off/on cycles (output 500,000 rpm), at the end of the stroke, the maximum seat torque, and 1/3 of the average maximum seat torque during the stroke. The actuator is subjected to 25 stalls on a solid object to demonstrate its durability.
- The operating temperature
Actuator is suitable for operation in ambient temperatures ranging from -30°C to +70°C. Please note that the operating temperature range specified in hazardous area certifications should be based on the certification. Please refer to the standards that Ik actuators follow or comply with. For temperatures outside this range, please contact AUTORK.
- The operating frequency
IK/IKT actuator is suitable for operations that start 60 times per hour.
The adjustable IKM type operates at 1200 times per hour.
- Vibration
Standards for the IK/IKT series actuators are suitable for environments where vibration levels do not exceed the following standards:
Equipment-induced vibration: The cumulative vibration across all frequencies in the 10-1000Hz range should be less than 1 grms.
Shock: Maximum acceleration of 5g.
Vibration: If operating during and after vibration, the frequency range is 150Hz and the acceleration is 2g. If only structural integrity is required, then 5g is acceptable.
In locations where vibration exceeds equipment-induced vibration, isolation control should be used, or the actuator should be installed away from the valve and driven via an extended shaft with a vibration-damping connection, which is a satisfactory solution.
- Noise levels were independently tested, and the noise generated at a distance of 1 meter from the actuator did not exceed 61 dB(A).
- Applications of AUTORK actuators: AUTORK actuators can be widely used in many different fields, such as petroleum, chemical, natural gas, energy, power, and wastewater treatment.
